Como se Parece uma Sala de Aula Implementando “Reading and Writing Workshop”?

Today,  I was able to take picture of my classroom. I am glad that I just teach language arts because following the reading and writing workshop model, it is very hard to find space on the wall. As you can see, even  my windows are already blocked for a good reason, a rich print environment. As Selma reminded me, I should have let you know that all bilingual teachers color code the language majority of the time, English is blue and Spanish is red to help the kids distinguish the language. We try to add pictures as well in everything.

    Hey Selma! Thank you for your comments. Sorry, I have to answer you in English. My ideas flow so much better in English than my Portuguese for being here so long. I guess this is the life of being bilingual. Anyway, a text rich environment is what our kids need especially my low-income kiddos. They look at those walls and they know they will find something that will help and remind them of any taught content. I have to say though that it is not only me who does this in my school. It starts from kindergarten and goes until 5th grade. It is definitely a team effort and a very solid curriculum.

    Que linda e organizada está sua sala de aula, Emy! Dá para ver perfeitamente nos murais a valorização de ambas as línguas, a organização por cores para facilitar a análise contrastiva pelos alunos e a amplitude da visão de línguas: léxico, gramática, fonética, gêneros textuais.
